Description

What is it?

The Range Rover Classic is an effortlessly capable 4×4 British luxury SUV, mating handsome Charles Spencer King-designed bodywork with unrivalled all-terrain ability and comfortable seating for four adults. It defined a whole new genre of cars.

This 1992 Vogue specification example with genuine and well-documented mileage presents in impressively original condition. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated petrol 3.9-litre EFI V8 motor delivering around 182bhp to all four wheels through a four-speed ZF automatic transmission.

What’s it got?

Finished in the handsome factory combination of Plymouth blue paintwork over grey velour cabin with wooden inlays interior in Vogue specification, generously equipped with electric windows, power steering, electrically operated glass sunroof and mirrors, alloy wheels, and a modern DAB-compatible Alpine stereo with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Original owner’s manual, two keys Cobra alarm with remote central locking.

What’s it like?

Condition is key with any classic car along with regular use, the last owner used the vehicle for daily duties demanding the car be reliable. All the electrics work as intended, windows, mirrors, radio and sunroof.

A new distributor and distributor module and amplifier were recently replaced along with new HT leads, sparkplugs, distributor cap, leads and rotor arm, full service and a change of all fluids,

The suspension coil springs were replaced offering a comfortable ride, the recently serviced gearbox changes are smooth, and the drivetrain works as designed. The stainless-steel exhaust system sounds fabulous offering a subtle burble as you waft along, it isn’t fast but is supremely effortless and relaxing.

The wheels were refurbished and new BF Goodrich AT tyres fitted.

Inside, the grey velour upholstery presents in superb condition, with limited signs of wear or damage to the seats or carpeting, in line with the mileage, the headlining and sunroof switch panel were recently retrimmed by world renowned Nationwide trimmers. The boot area is also in great shape, with both the carpet and parcel shelf undamaged.

Why this one?

Having been refurbished to be used as his daily driver this example in a great colour combination choice would be perfect as a retro daily driver or weekend cruiser.

The combination of superb visibility from that low waistline and the grunt of the V8 means you can see over hedges and make decent progress without making your passengers seasick.

Mechanically the cars are well-understood so finding parts and people who know how to keep one on the road shouldn’t be too hard.
