Description

1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV GSR
What is it?
The Lancer Evo VI was the last of the pure homologation Evos – road cars built in specific quantities to qualify for use in motorsport’s Group A and N categories – and the last model based on the smaller, lighter, second-generation Lancer bodyshell
Later cars were faster, and more capable still, but there’s just something about this era of Evo.

What’s it got?
A two litre four cylinder, 4G63 turbocharged engine, all-wheel-drive system featured a limited-slip differential in the back and an intelligent centre differential mated to five speed manual gearbox.
The outrageous looking hood with extracting air-vents, the huge and flat apron for the intercooler and the big adjustable rear wing offer an insight into the huge capabilities of this rally icon.
The interior is well appointed with electric windows, air conditioning and amazing Recaro sports seats.

How does it drive?
Weighing only 1360 kg offers a ruthlessly sharp throttle response , even today, there isn’t much that can stay with a well-driven Evo VI on a good B-road. (0-60mph 4.8sec and 140 MPH top speed)
Everything about this car is so precise, so perfectly in focus, it demands your full concentration, the tactile shift of the five-speed box and the Active Yaw Control gives it a sense of hyper-agility.

Why this one?
This low mileage, original example was bought new in the UK as a ‘Grey Parallel’ import. The history file is incredible, with over 30 main dealer and specialist service stamps and reams of invoices to back up the meticulous maintenance. Unmodified EVOs are getting rare, don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a motoring icon.
